The classic flat-topped Afghan pakol in undyed hand-felted sheep wool. Rolls to your fit and packs flat without losing shape.
The pakol is worn across northern and eastern Afghanistan. It arrives as a soft tube; you roll the brim up until it sits where you want it, which is why one size genuinely fits a wide range of heads.
The wool
Undyed sheep wool, hand-felted rather than knitted, so you get the natural shade variation of the fleece — anywhere from pale oatmeal to light grey. The lanolin left in the wool gives it real resistance to drizzle.
Fit
Comfortably fits a head of roughly 56 to 60 cm. Roll the brim tighter for a snug fit, looser for a relaxed one. The wool moulds to your head over the first few wears.
Care
- Spot clean with cold water and a little wool wash
- Do not machine wash — felted wool will shrink and harden
- Reshape while damp and dry flat, away from direct heat
